My Story

We're taking part in the Break the Cycle Virtual Challenge with Social Bite and Sir Chris Hoy by doing daily school walks with an aim of collectively achieving 60 miles! By taking part, we will be Breaking The Cycle of homelessness by raising £1million to help build two new Social Bite Villages in two new cities in the UK. The key target cities are Glasgow and London.

Unfortunately, the current approach to homelessness in the UK does not work. Using temporary accommodation such as hostels and B&Bs does not provide people with the stability and the support that they need to escape a life characterised by destitution and exclusion.

The Village is an innovative, community-based accommodation project that is designed to help people build a better life. The environment helps to equip them with the skills they need to be able to sustain their own, long-term tenancies, secure stable employment, and re-join the society that they have been excluded from.
